Hackney House

Total refurbishment of a 3-storey Victorian terraced house including addition of new rear extension and landscaping works to the garden.

We gutted the dingy and damp basement and knocked out the main internal walls.  A new steel frame enabled us to increase the span of the structure, giving a clear open plan layout.  A new concrete slab, damp proofing and a poured resin floor with underfloor heating, all help transform this Victorian house into a modern, fit-for-purpose dwelling.  New double glazed timber sash windows throughout help to improve the house’s thermal and acoustic performance.

We added a small glass box extension to the rear and excavated an area of the back garden to form a level terrace area.  This resulted in a bright and airy open-plan living space, beautifully connected to both front and rear gardens.

A new opening skylight over the original staircase brings plenty of natural light into the heart of the house.
